Filming location photo, shot in France, for The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat (1897). Scene description: Directed and produced by Auguste and Louis Lumière the short film shows the entry of a steam locomotive pulling into the gare de La Ciotat, a train station of the French coastal town of La Ciotat. Generally considered to be among the first motion pictures in modern history the audience was so overwhelmed by the moving image of a life-sized train coming directly at them that people screamed and ran to the back of the room.
